5-Day Back-to-School Teacher Self-Care Challenge | Madison, Sun Prairie & Waunakee WI
Before you dive into lesson plans and classroom chaos, take 5 intentional days just for YOU. This challenge is your permission slip to breathe, reset, and start the year refreshed.
Duration: 5 days Time commitment: 30-60 minutes daily Cost: Free Location: Madison, Sun Prairie, Waunakee WI
📅 Day 1:Digital Detox + Nature Reset
Start your recharge by disconnecting from digital stress and reconnecting with nature in beautiful Wisconsin.
❌ Delete school apps (just for today - give your mind permission to rest)
🌳 Walk at Aldo Leopold Nature Center or Wingra Woods (both free and perfect for mindful walking)
☕ Coffee at your favorite local spot with no multitasking - just be present
Pro tip: Set your phone to "Do Not Disturb" and tell yourself this is productive self-care, not laziness.
🔹 Local Spotlight: Wingard Woods
This 52-acre block of oak woods near Madison is considered a remnant since it was never plowed for agriculture, only grazed. Between 1943 and 1964, sugar maple, basswood, beech, and hemlock were planted in the shade of the oaks.
Today, Wingra Woods is gradually transforming into a shady forest dominated by sugar maple. The north slope features hemlock and yellow birch, creating a "northern Wisconsin mesic forest" experience right in your backyard.
Perfect for: Mindful walking, stress relief, and connecting with Wisconsin's natural heritage.
